The Support of the Young Accordionists
Supporting the Youth
The principal of the Support of the Young Accordionists is to support the hobby of the accordionists that study under the direction of accordion teachers from the Music Academy of Lappeenranta and from the Joutseno branch and from the Workers School of Lappeenranta.
The History
The association was found in 1981 by the parent of the players to be a joint association with the accordion teachers, the players and their parents.
The Activity
The main form of activity in our association is to arrange performance occasions for the students. In addition we try to arrange within all the possibilities concerts, camps, study trips and other activities that support the hobby of playing the accordion. We maintain our activity with voluntary work. The general expenses are covered with a member fee. the funds that come from the possible performance fees and other occasions are given to the accordion students as scholarships or in other means that serve them directly.
The Year of Celebration
Our association turned 20 years in the fall of 2001. The festive year of activity 2001-2002 is spent with big events and by playing together.
In the beginning of the year 2002 was organized an accordion camp where we practiced for the events in this year of celebration.
This year the annual "I play the accordion"- contest was organized in Lappeenranta in April.
The official celebration event was held in the Music Academy of Lappeenranta in May 2002.
